Backstory

Canda was born Amelie Mistria. She was nobility — the daughter of Anatain and Calla Mistria, and she lived in opulence. Her life was spent in high class education and formal training, sheltered from much of the world.

When the blight struck, she was 17 years old. It took everyone quickly. Canda was the sole survivor of her clan. She watched as her siblings and family and the many servants around her slowly died of pestilence. She, alone, was spared, by some twisted miracle. With nobody to protect her and brigands rapidly descending on her palace, she was forced to depart on the roads, not recognized by anyone, passing as a commoner.

Two years into her homeless existence, she met Mara. Canda had seen a lot of brutality at this point, and her world view had been shattered. Beliefs and Personality

Canda believes that she was spared from the plagues for the purpose of putting an end to the world's suffering. She has little respect for nobility, seeing the wealthy as willfully blind to the inequity, and privately believes that her family's demise was brought on by their own spoiled conduct in the world.

Outwardly, however, she is a woman of gentle speech and compassionate dialogue. She rarely takes sides in disputes, and hopes to resolve conflict through peaceful discussion. Canda leans on violence as a last resort.

Appearance

Canda is dressed simply and modestly, wearing pale yellow wrap robes and sandals. She carries a plain, unadorned magical staff and has tattoos under both of her eyelids depicting solar rays radiating outwards. She has a pair of vestigial, non-functional pale-brown bird wings from mixed birdfolk heritage, but is otherwise furless and featherless. Her head is shaven completely bald, and there are further intricate tattoos that rise from the crown of her forehead and up her scalp depicting a broken spiral, with repetitive old-world script running along its length.
