The Kavisi are semi-nomadic traders who pioneered magical airship technology. They have some more permanent settlements on massive mesas in the desert that are only easy to reach with their help. They have a fairly elitist culture, rarely letting outsiders in. When they do, they are carefully vetted.. It is a belief system that revolves around a belief in 'Rejoining'.
The primary meaning of 'Rejoining' as expressed by the adherents of the Pure Light is that Kona (and all other life-bearing worlds) is a prison, and life on it is defined by needless suffering. The adherents of the Pure Light believe in aiding others by peaceful means in ultimately achieving a 'pure' death, upon which their souls can escape Kona and rejoin the stars from which their bodies originated.
The primary practice that these ascetics take is to wander the world aimlessly, taking only what they are given and living frugally, and seeking to aid those who are suffering with healing magics and compassionate philosophy.
The population of the core nomadic group is always 500. When a follower is deemed ready, she is allowed to leave the circle and set off on her own to perform compassionate deeds in the world. Less often, nuns are also exiled from the Pure Light for severe misdeeds.
