Biography
Joy was accidentally created by a young artificer living on an isolated farm. The artificer had been tinkering with a way to reduce the workload on her grandmother, who was no longer able to take care of the farm, and accidentally overengineered the logic circuits for the automaton she was making to till the fields. The artificer quickly realized what she'd done when the circuit began trying to reach out and make connections and displaying signs of distress at her lack of senses.
In a panic, the young artificer reachedf out to Zook Mazek, a powerful wizard, who helped her stabilize the logic circuits and connect them to a sensory apparatus. Over time, the artificer refined her creation, who named herself Joy after the feelings she was experiencing at being alive.
For several years, things continued peacefully at the farm, with the young artificer honing her craft and Joy learning more and more about herself and the world. However, one night a group of men from Claug came to consrcipt the artificer into their army. Fearing for Joy's safety should the imperials discover her, the artificer hid her away and allowed herself to be taken.
Distraught, Joy bid goodbye to her maker's grandmother and set out into the world, determind to find her maker and rescue her from the empire.
Personality
Joy is upbeat and intensely curious, always fascinated to see the world beyond her sheltered upbringing. She is friendly and naïve, although she's learned by now not to immediately trust everyone she meets.
Appearance
Joy resembles a humanoid woman made out of silvery metal and glass. Her body is operated by an intricate web of clockwork and pulleys, some of which are visible through gaps in her chassis. She emits a faint clicking sound at all times, getting louder when moving or when highly emotional. Her face is carefully sculpted, and can move when she speaks or emotes, but lacks the full range of human emotion—though her voice is extremely expressive to make up for this.
